Sony’s biggest bet? The adoption of optical discs (CDs) instead of cartridges for its video games. That bet paid off and Playstation became the first successful CD-based console and entrenched itself as a household name in gaming.

We don’t know about you, but we have a soft spot for Playstation 1 games. Remember the obvious triangular geometry? Well, what PS1 games lacked in modern photorealistic magic they made up for tenfold with unique charm and nostalgia for those of us who grew up on them.
