Once again, Sony pushed the envelope in gaming by introducing the first console that supported Blu-ray. Games could once again become larger and more immersive. Not only did the new format enrich gaming, the discs were also less susceptible to scratching, which was a really nice side benefit. PS3s were very powerful at the time and I can still remember all the heavy-breathing by TV news anchors about PS3s being linked together to make supercomputers.
⚠️ Generally speaking, PS3 consoles do NOT support PS2 games, apart from the 20/60 GB models of the original fat/glossy PS3.
